Jamie Dickenson, LLC is owned and operated in Charleston, West Virginia. While our services include educational planning and providing academic support to a growing number of students, our goal  is to treat every customer with respect and adopt them into the Jamie Dickenson, LLC family. Our individualized approach is something we take pride in and gives us an edge when compared to similar services.

 

Jamie Dickenson started her educational consulting practice in 1998 and has helped thousands of families through the college admissions and financial aid process. Jamie's dedication, energy, and enthusiasm have contributed to the growth of her business and the success of many life changing decisions she's helped her students make.  In 2011, she decided to expand her business to include a tutoring center so that she could help her students lay a solid foundation for a positive academic career. 

 

It is our mission to provide educational support and guidance for students by communicating with them and motivating them as they transition from high school to college. Jamie is proud that her staff is preparing students for academic challenges by providing a customized learning experience that will help them successfully overcome high school’s hurdles and progress to college. Students work through their academic weaknesses and discover what they love and are good at doing, all in a safe and secure environment.

Jamie Dickenson is considered a leading authority in educational consulting. She is a speaker, radio talk show host, trainer, and business coach.  She also authored the book, "Too Smart for the Ivy League," offering her advice on how to give your student the best college education for the least amount of money.
 
Jamie grew up in Logan, West Virginia. She attended Marshall University where she graduated with a Bachelors of Business Administration majoring in accounting and a Masters degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in finance.
 

After college, she spent 15 years as an accountant working her way to Chief Financial Officer of a major coal company. She then became a Registered Representative for a national financial services company where she worked for 5 years.

 

Jamie started her educational consulting practice in 1998 and became a Certified Educational Planner. She has helped thousands of families through the college admissions and financial aid process. Jamie's dedication, energy, and enthusiasm have contributed to the growth of her business and the success of many life changing decisions she's helped her students make. In 2011, she decided to expand her business to include a tutoring center so that she could help her students lay a solid foundation for a positive academic career.

 

Jamie was a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the states of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Upstate New York and was featured as a Success Story for the West Virginia District of the Small Business Association (SBA).

 

Jamie has delivered over 150 business and motivational presentations for corporations, schools, colleges, associations, and business meetings. She is one of the most in-demand speakers and business consultants specializing in the areas of college admissions and financial aid.

 

For 13 years, Jamie was a guest speaker on a very successful talk radio show called "Ask the Expert" on WCHS 580 AM. She has been featured in the media on numerous radio and television shows as well as being quoted in feature articles.

 

Jamie is a 500 hour yoga teacher and owner of Yoga Power, LLC.  She loves to practice yoga in Charleston and anywhere she travels.

Office Manager

Ethan Chase grew up in Jackson County, West Virginia, graduating from Ravenswood High School in 2020. He recently earned his bachelor's degree in International Studies from West Virginia State University, along with minors in Spanish and French.
 
In his free time, he enjoys running, studying foreign languages, and painting landscapes.

 

Ethan is here to help you succeed in your academic pursuits and prepare for your future, whatever path that may take. He's ready to work together to achieve your goals.

Independent Educational Consultant (K-7)
 
Lindsay is an expert in Early Childhood Development receiving her B.A. in Elementary and Early Childhood Education as a member of the honor's college, graduating Magna Cum Laude, in 2015 from Marshall University. She also received her Master’s degree from Marshall as an Elementary Math Specialist in 2019. Lindsay is a Charleston native, and a graduate of George Washington High School, class of 2011.

Lindsay began her teaching career immediately following her student teaching, and continued teaching at the same school for 9 years. She taught kindergarten, first, and fourth grade while also achieving leadership roles in her school. She was a Professional Learning Community facilitator, technology specialist, and teacher leader alongside becoming the President of faculty senate.
 
Lindsay has dedicated her life to learning and continued to take professional development and graduate courses to increase her skills as an educator. Lindsay is passionate about breaking down the barriers between school and home, and is dedicated to helping parents understand their child’s education.
 
Lindsay has joined the Jamie Dickenson team as an Independent Educational Consultant offering consulting for K-7 students and their families.  We feel this is a much needed service to help prevent many of the issues we have encountered over the past 25 years of offering college planning services. 

Lindsay is a Yoga Alliance Certified 500 hour international yoga teacher, maintaining the designations of: e-RYT 200, RYT 500, YACEP. She is also a certified trainer in Lagree, TRX, and acro yoga. She teaches a variety of yoga and fitness classes at Yoga Power, LLC where she is a trainer in the Yoga Power Teacher Training School.  She has taught workshops and continuing education courses domestically and internationally on yoga retreats for fellow yoga teachers all around the world.
 
Lindsay enjoys spending time with her pets; her cat Jeff and her horse Magic.  She has successfully competed in Saddlebred horse shows across the tristate area, and remains undefeated in the Adult Equitation division. In her free time she likes to read, spend time with her friends and family, and enjoy life to its fullest.
Tutor
 
Taylor is a Riverside High graduate from the Belle area. She is a current student at the University of Kentucky studying Chemical Engineering with plans to work in the biopharmaceutical industry.She is a member of the Lewis Honors College and is involved in many extracurricular STEM organizations.

 

Taylor knows that the Kanawha Valley is full of hard working students with unlimited potential. She has always had a strong interest in science and mathematics, and firmly believes that anyone is capable of becoming an expert in these subject areas. With an emphasis on building test-taking confidence and discovering new study strategies, she is excited to help students see the fun in learning!

 

In her free time, Taylor enjoys reading thrillers or binge-watching Marvel movies with her friends.

Independent Educational Consultant (8-11), Tutor
 
Isabel grew up in Charleston. She is a graduate of Yale University Class of 2024 where she majored in English.
In her time at Yale, she served as a student ambassador, making visits to Kanawha Valley high schools to represent Yale and answer questions about the college admissions process. She intends on pursuing an MA in literature in the next year.
 
Isabel has always loved learning and, as a 2020 graduate of Capital High School, is passionate about helping West Virginia students do so as well! She is excited about making class tutoring and test prep as fun and stress-free as possible.

 

In her spare time, Isabel reads (a lot), teaches aerial yoga, and engages with the community theater scene. She can usually be found at Yoga Power or Mea Cuppa Coffee.

Reading Specialist, Tutor
 
Linda is a certified English teacher and reading specialist. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from West Virginia State College and went on to obtain her Masters degree in Education from Belhaven University.

 

Linda has been a teacher with Kanawha County Schools for over a decade, having previously worked as an instructor with the STARBASE program. She is currently teaching 6th Grade English at West Side Middle School.

 

Linda is passionate about teaching and excels at breaking down complex concepts into easy-to-understand components.

 

In her free time, Linda enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and flock of chickens in their home in Sissonville. Her daughter is currently attending John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Manhattan, New York.
